Sister Teresa Pham Mai Hong Van, the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians (Salesian Sisters), has been working on a mission in South Sudan since 2011. Right now, their missionary work involves taking care of, educating, and training children comprehensively with nearly 600 preschoolers and 2,000 students from grades 1 to 8. Additionally, the sisters provide cultural and vocational training for young girls and older women who are illiterate. The preschool classrooms which they are using are borrowed facilities from the Bishop’s office, and this year they need to return them to the Diocese, which means the preschoolers might have to learn outdoors or take a break from school. The sisters hope to build some classrooms for the children because learning outside at an average temperature of 39 to 43 degrees Celsius is incredibly tough. They are in urgent need of help from many sources, especially the kind support and enthusiastic missionary spirit from you all during this holy year of 2025. Let’s join the sisters and contribute a brick, a bag of cement, or anything else so that these kids can go to school.
